Sympathy Card
One of my acquaintance's mother has passed away. If I were to write my condolences in Korean, how would I phrase it? In English I would write "I am very sorry for your loss" but that does not translate over exactly in Korean. What is the proper phrase for expressing my sympathy?

Keep it simple and sincere expressing your condolences, it is appropriate to offer some words of comfort like this,
상심이 크시지요.
I know how hard it is to lose a family member,
뭐라 위로의 말씀을 드려야 할지 모르겠습니다.
삼가 조의를 표하며 고인의 명복을 빕니다.
I am so sorry for your loss, my sympathies to you.

조의문은 상대방을 위로하고자 하는 마음과 그에 대한 성의를 표하는 것이므로, 굳이 한국어로 번역을 하지 않으셔도 됩니다.
조의문을 보내는 것, 그 자체만으로도 상대방은 크게 감동할 것입니다.
