Why does 'XOXO' means 'kisses'?

The pronunciation of the letter X resembles "kiss"...
and when we hug,our arms like an "O".
so, XOXO means not only Kiss ,but also Hug..
That is to say.XOXO=Kiss and hug ...
It is often used in the end of a letter or an e-mail~
