What's the difference beween "Hot sale" and "Hot sell", are they the same? Which one is more often to use?

A hot sale would happen when a store gives a special sale that has much lower prices then normal.
"There was a hot sale at Macy's. All items were 50% off."
A hot sell is something that is being sold very fast and is very popular. In such a case, the price would go up.
"iPads are the hot sell this Christmas season."
