what does " Archangel dyevushka" mean?
She had been born the unwanted, illegitimate daughter of an Archangel dyevushka; she had never learned her father's identity. the complete passage of above sentence are:
[Thus Marina Nikolaevna Oswald became the link between her husband and the Paines. Ruth, at the same time, became her chief benefactor. To be sure, other people—members of the Fort Worth-Dallas Russian community—took a benevolent interest in the girl. But Ruths bonhomie eclipsed theirs. Indeed, since Michael was absent, the relationship was largely confined to three people. Henceforth the lives of Ruth, Marina, and Lee would be tightly bound together. The husband and the older woman became rivals for the friendship of the blonde wife, while she apparently toyed with first one and then the other. It was a new situation for Marina. She had been born the unwanted, illegitimate daughter of an Archangel dyevushka; she had never learned her father's identity. In some respects her background resembled Lee's. As a child she had been a disciplinary problem, and on at least one occasion she had seriously contemplated suicide. But Marina had one enormous advantage which he lacked. Physically she was far more attractive. She aroused protective instincts and invited rescue. Her husband had spirited her away from the U.S.S.R., and now Marina was about to seek Ruth's help and protection.]

The Archangel Gabriel is the exalted Messenger of God, whose name means "The Strength of God" and whose deeds are recorded in the Jewish scriptures, where the spirit aided the Prophet Daniel in the interpretation of his dream-visions. Although an important Jewish angel, Gabriel has touched the lives of those of different religions as well.
Some people believe that Gabriel is a female spirit; others hold that angels have no gender.
Archangel Gabriel who is concerned with the announcements of pregnancy, is allied with this root in its role as an herbal tonic for women's reproductive health.
The only Archangel depicted as female in art and literature, Gabriel is known as the "messenger" Angel . She is a powerful and strong Archangel, and those who call upon her will find themselves pushed into action that leads to beneficial results. Gabriel helps anyone whose life purpose involves the arts or communication. She acts as a coach, inspiring and motivating artists, journalist and communicators and helping them to overcome fear and procrastination.

djevushka = young girl; playgirl
Archangel could refer to some kind of hierarchy in the red light districts. I'm not an expert, but my guess is this prostitute was one of the leaders.

Someone who knows Russian should answer this. When I google "Dyevushka" I am finding the word means "little girl or girl." Of course, Archangel is an angel of high rank. If you don't know who or what angels are than you should probably google that.

Neither do I! "Dyevushka" is a Russian word which can mean a harlot, a trollop, a sleazy girl friend" etc. However, I don't know anyone that is an archangel. Where did you get these lines? I am also interested in its meaning.
