Hello aprahamian.talar
If I understand your question correctly, you're asking how to translate “ Are you a student ? ” in Japanese.
1) If it is obvious to the other person what the topic is, you will have:
学生ですか。
学生 ( がくせい) means “ student” general word.
You have also大学生 (だいがくせい) for “ university student ”and so on…
です: in this context it means "are”.
The particle か is a question marker.
2) Without any context the translation 学生ですか。doesn’t enable to know which person we are talking about. The subject in English could be “you” , “he”, “she”…
In that case you have to indicate the topic of the sentence which is, in your case, “you” translated by あなた and to use the particle は which is the topic marker.
Your sentence becomes:
あなたは学生ですか。
That was an attempt to answer your question, hope that will help.
But I might not have understood your message, then please try to rephrase it more clearly.
Have a nice day.
