Fred showed poor form when he did not show up to the party.
- He did not perform well.
The term is used for horses, where form is a little like fitness. To have poor form means they do not perform/run well.
.
It would be poor form to ask the lady out, but then to stand her up. (Not show up)
It would be poor form to agree to have the report done by Monday & then not get it done.
