What's the meaning of "And was it worth it?"

In an example:
You just bought a shirt, and found out it had a huge hole in it.
If someone asked you "Was it worth it?" You would likely say no, because you didn't get what you expected from your purchase.
Or you go to a concert and the band is horrible live, the experience was probably not worth the cost of the ticket or the time spent at the event.
