What's the difference between "manifestation" and "demonstration"?

As far as "political" manifestations/demonstrations I think they are the same. However, the words manifestation and demonstration have different meanings otherwise. Manifestation means "coming into existence" or "being revealed" while demonstration means "to show something/to explain with a display of some sort."
