Three questions about JLPT N4 level There are three questions about N4 vocabulary...... (1) コップを＿＿しまいました。　１　わって　２　こわして　３　きって　４　おって　 English translation .. " It's awful I broke the cup ".. right ? 　 My answer is 2 こわして...but 正解 is 1 わって　Why ? 　　 (2) そのころは大学を＿＿、仕事がなかった。　１はいっても　２いれても　３だしても　４でても English translation ...." Even you go to university , you can't find job" My answer is 1 but 正解 is 4 .でても.. Why ? (3)　言葉の意味がわからない時は、じしょを＿＿＿ください　　１さがして　２よんで　３ひいて　４きいて　　 English translation..." Please look up a word in a dictionary when you don't know the meaning. 　　 My answer is 1 but 正解 is ３ .ひいて.. Why ? I am so confused...Please help me ~ Thank you Have a nice day ~

1： If the cup has some devices and you broke it, then 「こわす」　is the right word. But, if it is an ordinary cup and you smashed it, then 「わる」 is the right one. 「わる」is used for fragile objects, like glass and crockery. 2： There are two reasons why "1" cannot be the answer.　The first one is as 雲小泉-san explains above. And the latter one is a grammatical reason and the correct sentence should be 「そのころは大学 "に" はいっても、仕事がなかった」 instead of 「そのころは大学 "を" はいっても、しごとがなかった」. 3：　じしょをひく　is a set phrase as 雲小泉-san explains above.

1. わる is the word that goes with コップ. こわす = to break a mechanism. 2. It's not confusing at all. When you get into university, you study. When you get out of university you go to work. 3. Because that is what you do with a じしょ. You just need to learn what words go together. じしょをひく　= to look up a dictionary
