Please tell me what means is it?
There is a sentence I don't understand:
My sister,a primary school teacher, was informed by one of her pupils that a bird had built its nest in the tree outside the classroom.
What is the " informed by" mean in it? And what the meaning of this whole sentence?

"Informed by" means to tell someone information. So, in the case the student is telling the teacher something.

A was informed by B that C.
B told A that C.
My brother was informed by Christina that they would have a baby.
Christina told my brother that they would have a baby.
So in your sentence:
The student told your sister about the bird that had built a nest.
