When we use "which" and "that" as word connection ?

In that situation - either is fine.
Although - you have your grammar a bit wrong. You should use past tense, and you missed out the subject of the sentence.
I use an up-to-date gadget which was given to me by my Mum
I use an up-to-date gadget that was given to me by my Mum
I use an up-to-date gadget that my Mum gave me
