The bus was so late reaching the station that I ____ missed my train.
A. already
B. entirely
C. almost
D. soon
Note:
My choice is C.
Is it correct to say “The bus was so late reaching the station that I had already missed my train”?
Just curious, are they ways to alter the sentence so that the other answers would work? Thanks

C is correct. And you are correct that you can insert "had already". That's a great observation on your part. I'm not sure of any other ways to manipulate the other choices to make the sentence work.

"Almost" is definitely the correct answer.
"Had already" could also be used here, although without something extra at the end of the sentence it sounds sort of unfinished. For example, I think it would sound better to say "The bus was so late reaching the station that I had already missed my train when I arrived."
