zing:
1. A spicy or strong flavor in food.
2. Something strange and exciting added to something ordinary
Examples of #1:
"I added chilli peppers to the rice to give it some zing."
"This fish tastes good by itself, but it is the sauce that really gives it zing!"
"My soup is bland, but I don't know why. I wish it had more zing. Maybe I should add some soy sauce and spices."
Examples of #2:
