what does "Khong phai dau" mean?
I have seen this come up a few times, or a variation of it.

I don't think it works as a direct translation. What does it mean exactly when someone answers or says this to you? Is it a common expression in vietnamese?

I think it might be used as 'not so' or 'no.'

It means: "No, i am not" or "It is not like that"
Simply, it is the opposite of the fact was mentioned.
