What is the difference in meaning between 看,看看,看见,见,见到,看到? What situations would some of these be appropriate but not others? Which ones can also function as nouns? I'll write some examples in English. I looked at the magazine covers. I'm reading a book. I looked at the wall but I didn't see any cracks. I like to watch TV. Sometimes I watch people walking in the park. I think the Great Wall must be quite a sight to see. (both noun and verb right next to each other in this case) 看/见 vs 看到/见到 reminds me of 找 (to seek) vs 找到 (to find), but I'm not so sure that 看 has such a distinct meaning of "to look" or that 看到 has a distinct meaning of "to see."

看,看看 are verbs, they have the some meaning of "look""have a look", and 看见,看到 is the result, that you have saw something,见,见到 have the some meaning with "meet"

First I have to say that you have a good instinct about the relation between 看到/见到 and 找到. 到 somewhat functions the same in both situation -- the action gets result. 看到/见到 both mean 'to see'; 看 just means ' to look or watch' 见 means ' to see' 看看 shows us an interesting usage of verb. There are quite a few verbs can be used in this way: double itself to mean a quick and short action, or to soften the tone. Such as, you see your good friend is reading a book. And he claims that it's very funny. You just want to have a look. Then you tell him: 让我看看。 let me have a look. But if you say 让我看. (Give it to me to read). It sounds too rough and straight. 看见,见,见到,看到 all mean ' to see' Let's see your examples: I looked at the magazine covers. 我看杂志的封面。 I'm reading a book. 我正在看书。 I looked at the wall but I didn't see any cracks. 我看着墙,但没 看见/ 见到/ 看到 任何裂缝。 I like to watch TV. 我喜欢看电视。 Sometimes I watch people walking in the park. 有时我观看公园里来往的人们。 I think the Great Wall must be quite a sight to see. 我想长城是很值得一看的景点。
