Detenerse o pararse?

Detenerse = Stop
Pararse = stop and stand
For example
Párate aquí
Stand over here.
Él estaba en el suelo, pero pronto se paró.
He was on the ground, but he soon stood up.
Detén el auto en frente de la casa = para el auto en frente de la casa
Park the car in front of the house (lit. stop the house in front of the house)
No te detengas, sigue adelante = No pares, sigue adelante.
Don't stop, go on.
So, both verbs can mean "to stop", but only "pararse" can be translated as "stand"

En España parar sin lugar a dudas. Tienen las dos el mismo significado, pero se usa más parar.

Detenerse y pararse son totalmente diferentes. Detenerse se utiliza para dejar mover algo. Y pararse para levantar algo.
Un ejemplo con detenerse: detén el auto. un ejemplo con pararse: Párate de la cama.
