Being a native speaker, this is not the sort of thing we did in School. Perhaps someone who learned English as a second language can help. But even among native speakers, there are slow readers and fast readers. In my experience, the difference is practice. I have read many big books, which really helped be practice speed reading. But I think the reason i read quickly is that I stopped saying the words to myself. If you can read without verbalizing the words, you can go a lot faster. Perhaps there are also some apps for your telephone that can help improve your word recognition.
