Question about 'many a'
'Many a' means 'many', but is always used with a singular verb. My question is what possessive adjective should be used to refer to the persons mentioned in the same sentence. Please look at these two sentences.
Many a refugee wants to have THEIR own homeS.
Many a refugee wants to have HIS own home.
Which sentence is correct?

I'd say it would be best to say "Many a refugee wants to have their own home." as it could also be a female. But assuming you only want to talk about males, the second is correct.
