Phú, Quý...: rich Minh, Trí...: about intelectual for the girl: Thảo, Hạnh, Trúc, Mai...: be a good girl.. they also can be named after something in natural such as: Sơn (mountain: stable, strong), Hải(sea:power, big think), Ngọc (pearl:brightly), Dương ( the son: brightly, power), Thu (fall: beautiful, gentle)... however, in this case, parents also wish their children have the characteristic of these things. beside that, some parent come to pagoda to looking for their children name. in sort, almost name in Vietnamese have meaning. and the middle name depend on the name to complete the meaning or for a good sound. hope it is useful.

Well, it depends a lot :D Some parents ask for suggestion from relatives and close friends. Then they consider the meaning and the suitability with the family as they may want to avoid the namesake to close ancestors or relatives. Some parents even ask fortuneteller to decide the name based on the birth's time to support the child's future. Some parents they use the context in which the child is born to name (place, time, etc...) But in general, people always consider the combination of middle name and given name as it may have negative or hirarious meaning.

Husband's family way of naming passed down for generations. "Lê Công Anh"(great grandpa)----> Lê Công Hoàng (grandpa) ---> Lê Công Tuấn (papa) ---> Lê Công Khải (child).
