How to express the feeling of pity
The situation is that I invite some to do something, the time isn't good for him, then he cannot come.He said: I have a meeting ,I am not sure to come today.Sorry.
How can I send him a message to show it is a pity, but it doesn't matter, maybe next time?
Please give me some advice

Hello Scott.
You could say something like "I'm sorry to hear that what a shame,, I hope your meeting goes well. It's no bother though, we can always meet up later."
Is this the sort of thing you were after? I hope I helped!

I agree with Amelia. The phrase "That's a shame," was the first thing to spring up in my mind.
