Good morning, everyone. I've been invited to talk about my research project into Australian Aboriginal rock paintings.
I am not clear the word 'into'. Is ‘project into’ is a phrase?

"into Australian Aboriginal rock paintings" is a prepostional phrase.
A prepostional phrase is in form of prepostion plus object. In your example "into" is prepostion. "Australian Aboriginal rock paintings" is object of prepostion.
