Is this sentence correct Rowning is played in the sea, a lake or a river.

a few problems! Firstly I presume you mean Rowing and not Rowning. Rowing is a sport that isn't played, so you can't say "rowing is played in the sea" I think "Rowing takes place in the sea, a lake or a river" is what you are looking for. However: "Rowing usually takes place in the sea, rivers or lakes" "You can row in the sea, a lake or a river" "People can row in the sea, in lakes and on rivers" are more natural sounding ways of saying a similar thing.
