Careful guys, "surname" means "nom de famille", not "prénom"! :)
Feng:
Prénom means your first name, the one your friends and mother use to call you.
Nom usually means "nom de famille", which is your last name (or surname).
But in casual French, nom also means "prénom", so it can be confusing: "Quel est ton nom?" = "Comment t'appelles-tu?" (you would normally give your prénom as an answer).
Does this make sense? :)
