I need help with my CELTA pre-interview task. Hi, all! I'm applying for Cambridge CELTA and I need some help with my pre-interview task. I would appreciate if you could help with that. Here's the question. Look at the exchange below and the labels on right. A. Would you like to come to the theatre tonight? INVITING B. I would love to, but I can't. REFUSING INVITATION. These labels are called FUNCTIONS, and tell us about what the language is actually doing, i.e its communicative purpose. Look at the dialog below and label the function of each utterance. A. Hey Rob. B. What ? A. I didn't mean it. Truly. If I'd known... B. Yeah, well, just don't do it again. A. I won't, promise. B. Or I'll never talk to you again

Well, my first question is, what are your thoughts? :) Do you have a list of specific labels, or is a descriptive word sufficient?

Well, I guess the single word for that is Apologize but not sure as usual :) Expressing Regret. What do you think ? Is this the right answer?
