"Esperar" in Spanish may mean three different verbs in English. Wait: Te espero en la oficina = I wait for you in the office. Hope: Esperamos que no sea demasiado tarde = we hope it is not too late. Expect: Los expertos esperan una baja en el precio del dólar = the experts expect a devaluation of the Dollar. I hope this helps.
