hmmm,if someone asked me :what are you doing? i answered his question,then i want to ask him why he asked that question.how should i say?

You can say "Why do you ask?", if you have to be more polite, you can say "may I know why you ask that question?".

Person: How are you doing?
You: Fine. Why?
Note : You could also say, "Fine, why do you ask?"
