What do these lyrics mean?
Hello everyone :) I don't know if somebody here did listen to the new album by The Black Keys, but I got just one question about the lyrics of it. You see, there's a song called "Weight of Love". And there's a phrase that I just can't understand. The lyrics are:
I used to think
Darling, you never did nothing
But you were always up to something,
Always at a run in yeah
I gotta think
Those days are coming to get you,
Nobody wanna protect you,
They only wanna forget you.
You'll be on my mind
Don't give yourself away
To the weight of love
You'll be on your side
Don't give yourself away
The weight of, way of love
Dance all night
Cause people they don't wanna be lonely
Never want to be lonely
Never want to be an only one
You had a thing
No one could ever be sure of
Never, ever had a pure love
And never no cure from
I will appreciate if somebody could explain what does the phrase "don't give yourself away to the weight of love" exactly mean. Thank you for your attention :)

I think that that particular line could mean that the singer doesn't want the girl/person to give his or herself away whole heartedly to love (because love is such a heavy thing in our minds and bodies). Hm, I think that the singer refers to the fact that people give so much of themselves away when they fall in love that when they experience heartbreak, they are left feeling kind of hollow and empty.
