Dear Professor X in French
How can I translate "Dear Professor (His surname)" into French?
More details:
- This professor teaches at university level
- I do not know him personally, but I am taking his class
- He addressed me as "Chère (my name + surname)"
Can I use "Cher Professeur (His surname)" in a formal email? Would that be adequate?
If so, should I write "Professeur" or "professeur"?

Hi Eva,
I suggest you to write "Cher Professeur" or "Cher Monsieur", that is the classic polite phrase in the correspondance You don't need to add his name after that. it will be inappropriate.
