I've been trying to practice my latin online for a little while now, but the problem i keep running into is trying to ask people how long they've been studying latin. I can ask specific quantities of time, but I don't know how to ask an indefinite question.
"for how many years have you been studying latin" would be:
quot annos linguam latinam discebas?

To indicate the the person is still studying you must use the present otherwise the meaning becomes "how long did you study":

Quamdiu linguam latinam discis ? - how long have you been studying latin?
Quamdium linguam latinam discebas? - how long had you been studying latin (when something else happened)
