What do the words 'anata' and 'motte' mean? For example: anata wa kiiro no hon o motte imasu. watashi wa kiiro no hon o motte imasu. I feel like the first sentence this means 'to give', and the second one indicates 'to have' but I'm not sure.

anata = You motte = Original verb is "motsu(持つ)". It means "have" in English :)
