Is it 歳 or 才 ? こんにちは! While studying numbers I found that the japanese age counter is 歳 . But since it is rather difficult it is also written as 才 I was wondering which one do Japanese poeple use often in writing, is it 歳 or 才 ? ありがとうございます!

歳 is the official character for the age. The meaning of 歳 and 才is different and 才 doesn't have a meaning of age, but we tend to use 才 often because of too many strokes of 歳. You can use 才 anytime but you'd better use 歳 when you write it on official documents, for example.
