What is the difference between 話します and 話せます?

話します=speak or talk (just verb
話せます=can speak or can talk
forexample,
私 は 母 と 話します。 is ok,
but, japanese don't say
私 は 母 と 話せます( I can talk with my mother )
because this sentence is strange.

Hanasemasu means "Can speak"
Hanashimasu means "Speaks"
Nihongo ga hanasemasu ka? - Can you speak Japanese?
Nihongo o hanashimasu ka? - Do you speak Japanese?
You have to use "ga" with hanasemasu and "o" with hanashimasu.
