Now, if you try to think in English to this terms without grade, you make clear the choice you have to do. "... a better job..." is "... un lavoro migliore..." or "... un lavoro meglio..."? Can you say "... a good job..."? and "... a well job..."? Of course the fist, so "... a better job..." is "... un lavoro migliore..."! "you did it better than..." is "l'hai fatto migliore di..." o "l'hai fatto meglio di..."? Can you say "you did it good"? and "you did it well"? Of course the second, so "you did it better than..." is "l'hai fatto meglio di..."
