How should I say when I first meet someone?
I don't have much idea when I want to greet him/her in both formal and informal occasions, especially when I don't know his/her name, I wanna know how native English speakers say hello to each other. Thanks for any instructions:)

If I had never met the person before or in a formal situation I would say "Hello. Nice to meet you. My name is Ruth" They would probably say "Hello. Nice to meet you. My name is..."
If it was a friend of mine I would say "Hi. How're you doing?" They would probably say " Hi. I'm great. How are you?"
It is rare for people to great each other very formally. Maybe the first time you meet someone in business.
