Why use 'where' below sentence? I think it's 'which'.
A crushing defeat would be a case where you lose.

"Why is 'where' used in the sentence below?" - this is the correct way of writing your question.
"Where" can also be used to indicate a situation (a case).
If you use "which", then the meaning of "case" changes - I either think of luggage, or a legal matter.
