"If a big asteroid with Earth's name on it were to reach us unimpeded, well, we could go the way of the dinosaurs."
What does "with Earth's name on it" mean in this sentence, just take it literally?

Detined to hit Earth. A more common expression would be "a bullet with his name on it" ie, a bullet destined to hit him.
