What does させる mean?
I have a lot of trouble with "Saseru"
What does it mean?
How about this? What does させる Mean in this sentence:
1978年には試験管ベビー第一号が誕生している。この技術は今までは生まれてくることのなかった新しい命を生み出した。しかしその一方ではいろいろ『考えさせられる』問題が起こった
What does kangaesaserareru mean? (Its different from kangaesaseru! But how?) Thanks!

kangaeru: think
kangaesaseru: make somebody think: (in this case)The technology make us think many things.
kangaesasesareru: the passive form of kangaesaseru: somebody is made think by (strange English, but it's difficult to translate literally into English)
(in this case) We are forced to think many things by the technology.
The meaning is almost same as kangaesaseru, but the subject changed.
Subject became 'we', but we didn't think voluntarily. Something else(in this case the technology) made us think. This is a typical Japanese way of expression trying to avoid an impression that I have a 'will'.

saseru(使役) menas make (somebody do something) or let a person do something.
rareru(受身) means passive to do something.
so 考えさせられる is make us have to consider .
