The word is 'swap' . It's a very common word, sometimes equivalent in meaning to the US English use of the verb 'trade' in sense of 'exchange'.
My sister and I are the same size so we often swap clothes.
The case was too big so I took it back to the shop to swap it for a smaller one.
Are you cold? Do you want to swap places with me and sit near the heater?
