You "baste" a whole turkey or chicken when roasting it in the oven. Every so often, you spread some sauce or oil over the surface to keep it moist. I am not aware of a particular kitchen utensil called a "baster" which does this job. If there is such a thing, then perhaps you can compare its shape with a microphone! That's the best I can do. The meaning is not obvious.
Are you sure it said "stand dealies"? I have never heard of this term.
