How do English native speaker understand new words in English? Russian language got "root of the word" (or root word?) to understand new words, so we can guess the meaning of unfamiliar words. I had never found the analogues like "root of the word" in English before. How can you guess the meaning of unfamiliar words instead of kind of compositions, conversions, suffixes and prefixes? Pls, correct my formulations if they got mistakes.

English actually uses all kinds of word roots. A lot of these come from Greek and Latin. http://www.prefixsuffix.com/rootchart.php https://www.learnthat.org/pages/view/roots.html
