Jody
is “bonnet worm”= earthworm here? the context: [They took separate ponds. Penny called that he was licked and beaten. He began fishing for Ma Baxter's bream with a hand-line and bonnet worms. Jody cast and cast again, but there was never the mad swirl of waters, the great leap, the live and struggling weight. He caught a small bass and held it up to show his father. ] I get the explanation:[n. A worm or insect-larva occurring in Florida in the bonnet or yellow water-lily (Nuphar advena), and used as bait for the black-bass.] https://www.wordnik.com/words/bonnet-worm I wonder: what is the official name of bonnet worm? is it the earthworm?

A bonnet worm is a kind of worm, but not the same as an earth worm. I think they live in different eco-systems. If you google it you will probably get more information.
