what does" I (kind of) like her" mean? what if an America boy said :" I (kind of) like her." to my friend after my performance in a new year party? Does he mean he has a crush on me or just appreciates my performance (a beautiful piece with a type of traditional Chinese musical instrument) ?

It means he likes you in a "romantic" way for example: as a girlfriend someone he would like to date or get to know better, etc. Don't be confused with the (kind of) remark as it was simply his way of saying to your friend "I think she is cute and I want to get to know her better" and has nothing to do with your performance. It may not be a crush "YET" but he let your friend know so that she would let you know. Got it?

it could mean either: 1. Interested in you romantically at least a little bit or 2. Likes your performance #2 is much more likely used in this context without any other hints

The meaning is personal, but qualified, limited by the "kind of".
