am going on holiday and some items do not fit in the suitcase.
In my bag there are things that do not fit in.
Is this the correct verb here?

In your second statement you use 2 "in"s. You could just say, "Some things don't fit in my bag." Or "I can't get everything in my bag."

You will also hear "fit into" in the first sentence.
