Como el verbo conjugado en este caso "poder" está acompañado por un infinitivo "ayudar" , puedes optar por cualquiera de las dos opciones.

Quiero decirte que... = Te quiero decir que..
Puede caerme mal el chocolate = Me puede caer mal el chocolate.

Lo mismo pasa cuando en lugar de un infinitivo hay un gerundios (terminados en "ando"/"endo")

La nieve está derritiendose = la nieve se está derritiendo.
