I'll do the first one. "convert" and "transform" are close synonyms in the following example:
"He converted / transformed his garage into a bedroom."
"Transform" implies a greater change than "convert". For example, if you just put a bed, carpet and window into the garage, then it would be a modest "conversion". But if you went on to re-paint the room, put in lovely furniture and made the room very comfortable and welcoming, you would have "transformed" it.
