Hi, it depends on what you are talking about. "Good" has several translations in Japanese.
The basic examples are:
よい / いい He is a good man. --> かれはよい / いいひとです。
おいしい / うまい This apple pie tastes good. --> このアップルパイはおいしいです。
*うまい sounds casual in this case, so we say このアップルパイはうまい。
じょうず / うまい Her Italian is good. かのじょのイタリアごはじょうず / うまいです。However, I would say かのじょはイタリアごがじょうず / うまいです。
*In this case, うまい isn't as casual as the one of "tastes good" but it's also more casual than じょうず.
There are more translations but these are the most common ones. I hope this helps you.

”うまい” is "wonderful" or also used if something is tasty. ”いい” is probably what you're looking for.

I don't know if I understood you correctly but the word "good" in Japanese is "うまい" - "u ma i".
