The literal meaning of Jhooth is lie/untrue. But when somebody says "paani/khaana jhootha kar diya" it means it's been used/eaten/drunk by somebody else/it's not fresh anymore or not fit for consumption. It's used only for things which are edible. So if somebody has used your pillow I can't say Pillow jhootha ho gaya. Hope I've made it clear.
