Japanese: Asking Someone How They Are Informally I know あなたはお元気ですか? means "How are you?" in polite language, but what is the informal version of this that you use with friends, etc? Just あなたは、お元気? with the intonation altered at the end, あなたはお元気なのか? or something else?

We hardly say 「あなたは」 and just say 「お元気ですか?」 in formal. In casual, 「元気?」. I usually say just 「元気?」 to my friends.
