machi wo aruku= walk through town. Can I say gakkoo wo aruku to mean "walk through school'? The 1st sentence is from a grammar book.

I would say "校内を歩く" (Kounai wo aruku). I think because "school" is not a place and you should say the name of places right before "wo aruku".
