What does «Жизнь висит на нитке, а думает о прибытке!» mean?
I understand the first part, but I'm not sure what the last word means?

This russian proverb means that man thinks about any profit even being in dangerous

I have never heard it in speech. I think it's about someone who is in danger but still looks for profit. The proverb has a negative shade of meaning.

жизнь висит на нитке use rarely but you can hear pretty often на волоске (жизнь на волоске, компания на волоске и т.п) it means - To hang by a thread
думать прибытке this words made from the word прибыль/прибывать - think about profits

прибыток means benefit or income. Quite rarely used in speech
